Losco Park - Jacksonville

10931 Hood Road South Jacksonville FL 32257

Losco Park is one of the bigger natural parks in Jacksonville. The park boasts a host of amenities including a brand new playground, miles of paved trails, a distance-marked 5K's worth of nature trails skirting the edges of Julington Creek, several lit soccer fields, large open fields for general play, plenty of parking, wheelchair/handicap/elder accessibility throughout, and even a little splash pad for hot summer days. On any given Sunday, you'll see a host of moms pushing strollers, next to a speed-walking elderly couple, aside a birthday party at the large gazebo, next to the cricket game near the park's entrance, all with LARP characters reenacting battle scenes in the wide fields along the park's rear. This park is special in how much natural beauty abounds. The paved walking trails meander through hundred year old oaks and around a beautiful lake that usually has its share of ducks as long as the model boat club isn't having a regatta. The nature trail can be somewhat hard to find as there's no sign from the road but a small dirt lot near the soccer fields is the entrance where a small trail marker can be found. Great for getting in the zone and forgetting you're running, the well maintained trails zip you through an incredible variety of flora and give chance for seeing quite a few fauna as well. The bridge's placement leading to the back trails offers one heck of a nice backdrop for Instagram pops. This park is one of community, a place to gather and enjoy simply being outside with one another.

Senior Rating: 9 /10 for accessibility to paved trails, gazebo, and parking. Off-road trails have some difficult ground with roots, mud, and steps.
Parent Rating: 10 / 10, large outdoor spaces, separate age-appropriate playgrounds, miles of paved trails, and easy accessibility.
Doggy Rating: 10 / 10, huge fields for sprinting, miles of well-maintained paved and unpaved trails
Cleanliness Rating: 8 / 10, park is well-maintained but the open-air bathrooms stank.
